Short and sweet, Tumblelogs take the boring out of blogging
Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 11:00PM Tumblelogs are shorter, simpler blogs that display photos, videos, links and text. They are reader friendly because they get straight to the point and skip all of the commentary associated with traditional blogs. For the blogger, it's a great way to share interesting Web content with others. For example, many of us have come across an article or Web site we want to share with a friend and have traditionally sent the link out via e-mail. A Tumblelog lets you share this information on your own Web site, rather than e-mailing it. The end result is a "digital scrapbook" of all the interesting items you've found online that can be accessed by anyone.
Posting information on a Tumblelog is easy. In addition to bookmarking Web content from your browser, you can upload photos and send posts to your Tumblelog via sms. You also can populate your Tumblelog with RSS feeds.
I've set up my own Tumblelog using Tumblr, a free service that will have you Tumblelogging in minutes. Visit my Tumblelog at webgirl.tumblr.com to see an example.
