Can you count to three? Moving beyond Web 2.0

As I race to complete my study of public relations and new media, the concept of Web 2.0 is quickly becoming outdated. While Web 2.0's wikis, mashups, podcasts, blogs, tags and social networks offer a paradigm shift in the development of the Internet, innovators are moving on to what is considered the next version of the Internet, or Web 3.0. As Web 2.0 is characterized by open platforms, collaboration and user-generated media, the defining characteristics of Web 3.0 are still anybody's guess. Tim Berners Lee considers Web 3.0 "The Semantic Web."  Others predict Web 3.0 is always on and accessible everywhere. Here's Google's Eric Schmidt's take.
